Abstract
Ovaj završni rad podijeljen je u dvije cjeline: teorijsku osnovu podatkovne znanosti te empirijski dio rada koji dokazuje prisutnost podatkovne znanosti u Hrvatskoj. Teorijski dio čini tri poglavlja u kojima se definira pojam podatkovne znanosti, navode karakteristike, potrebna znanja, vještine i sposobnosti podatkovnog znanstvenika. Detaljno je opisan proces rada jednog podatkovnog stručnjaka koji vrši obradu podataka kako bi došao do informacija vrijednih za poduzeće. Ističe se važnost donošenja odluka na temelju podataka te je ukazano da poduzeća s podatkovnom analizom i samim time povećanom produktivnošću pokazuju bolje financijske rezultate poslovanja. Empirijski segment istraživanja ispituje hrvatsko tržište podatkovnih znanstvenika s ciljem određivanja stupnja implementiranosti podatkovne znanosti u Hrvatskoj. U okviru ovog rada osmišljeno je i provedeno anketno ispitivanje podatkovnih znanstvenika i analitičara (91 ispitanik) iz različitih sektora. Provedeno istraživanje potvrđuje teorijsku osnovu rada i dokazuje implementiranost podatkovne znanosti u nekoliko hrvatskih poduzeća te pokazuje smjernice rasta i razvoja podatkovne znanosti u svim sektorima. Ujedno, pružen je uvid u utjecaj pandemije Covid-19 na podatkovnu znanost u Hrvatskoj.
Abstract (english)
This final paper is divided into two parts: the theoretical basis of data science and the empirical part that proves the use of data science in Croatia. The theoretical part consists of three chapters in which the concept of data science is defined, listing the characteristics, required knowledge, skills and abilities of the data scientist. It describes work of a data expert who performs data analysis in order to obtain information valuable for the company. Paper emphasizes the importance of data driven decision making which results in higher productivity and better financial performance of companies that implemented data analysis. The empirical segment of the research examines the Croatian market of data scientists with the aim of determining the implementation stage of data science in Croatia. Within this paper is a survey that has been designed and conducted by data scientists and analysts (91 respondents) from different sectors. Research confirms the theoretical basis of the work, shows the perks of implementing data science in several Croatian companies, and gives guidelines for growth and development of data science in all sectors. This paper gives an insight into the effects COVID 19 pandemic had on data science in Croatia.
