Abstract
Cilj ovog rada je bio proučiti odnos između nezaposlenosti i ekonomskog rasta na uzorku zemalja Europske unije. Analiza je provedena nad 27 članica, za period od 2000. do 2019. godine. Glavna korištena metoda je bila panel analiza, i to panel model s fiksnim efektom, dok je samo za Hrvatsku korištena linearna regresija. Rezultati analize su pokazali kako između nezaposlenosti i ekonomskog rasta postoji inverzan odnos, ali kako Okunov zakon ne vrijedi na promatranom uzorku jer je jačina odnosa veća u odnosu na rezultate koje je dobio Okun. Nadalje, pokazalo se kako naknade za nezaposlene dovode do rasta nezaposlenosti, dok poboljšanje kvalitete institucija dovodi do pada nezaposlenosti na promatranom uzorku.
Abstract (english)
This paper aimed to study the relationship between unemployment and economic growth in a sample of European Union countries. The analysis was carried out over 27 member states for the period 2000 to 2019. The primary method used was panel analysis, namely a panel model with a fixed effect, while for Croatia, linear regression was used. The results of the research showed that there is an inverse relationship between unemployment and economic growth, but that Okunov's law does not apply to the observed sample because the strength of the relationship is higher than the results received by Okun. Furthermore, unemployment benefits have been shown to lead to a rise in unemployment, while improving the quality of institutions leads to a fall in unemployment in the observed sample of countries.
