Abstract
Cilj ovog rada je bio zaključiti o glavnim makroekonomskim čimbenicima profitabilnosti banaka te o smjeru i intenzitetu njihova utjecaja na odabranim primjerima. Temeljem pregleda relevantne literature, spoznalo se kako su glavni makroekonomski čimbenici profitabilnosti banaka ekonomski rast, inflacija, kamatne stope, devizni tečaj, nezaposlenost i državna potrošnja. Temeljem provedene analize, moglo se zaključiti kako razlike u smjeru utjecaja i intenzitetu utjecaja temeljnih makroekonomskih čimbenika profitabilnosti postoje ovisno o zemlji koja se promatra, o periodu koji se promatra, o skupini varijabli koje se uključuju u model te o načinu na koji su varijable u modelu mjerene. Kada su u pitanju skupine bankovnih sustava, odnosno skupine zemalja, moglo se spoznati da razlike postoje ovisno o razvijenosti zemalja iz uzorka. Stoga, a s obzirom na značaj koji bankovni sektor ima u gospodarstvu europskih zemalja, svaka zemlja bi redovito trebala provoditi ovako istraživanje za sebe.
Abstract (english)
This paper aimed to conclude on the main macroeconomic factors of bank profitability and the direction and intensity of their impact on the selected examples. Based on a review of the relevant literature, it was found out that the primary macroeconomic factors of bank profitability are economic growth, inflation, interest rates, exchange rate, unemployment, and government spending. Based on the analysis carried out, it could be concluded that differences in the direction of influence and intensity of influence of the underlying macroeconomic factors of profitability exist depending on the country under review, time period, the group of variables included in the model, and on how the variables in the model were measured. Regarding the groups of banking systems, differences exist depending on the development of the countries in the sample. Therefore, and given the importance that the banking sector has in the economy of European countries, each country should regularly conduct such research for itself.
