Abstract
Cilj ovoga rada je istražiti na koji je način pandemija Covid-19 utjecala na kretanje indeksa S&P 500. U prvom dijelu opisan je pojam burze koja predstavlja instituciju namijenjenu trgovanju raznim robama, uslugama i vrijednosnim papirima te njezin razvoj kroz povijest. Upoznaje se sa najpoznatijim burzama svijeta te trgovanje na istima. Prikazana je podjela burzi prema predmetu i tipu trgovanja te su opisani svi sudionici na istima. Detaljno se razrađuju pojmovi burze vrijednosnih papira kao središnjeg mjesta na kojem se susreću ponuda i potražnja, dionica koje predstavljaju dio temeljnog kapitala tržišta i obveznica (dužnički vrijednosni papiri). U drugom dijelu rada fokus je na značaju burzovnih indeksa i predstavljanju najpoznatijih u svijetu. U završnom dijelu provedena je analiza utjecaja Covida-19 na američka dionička tržišta kao i na cijelo gospodarstvo sa posebnim osvrtom na kretanje indeksa S&P 500. Najveće iznenađenje nije bio pad tržišta već njegov brz oporavak ostvaren monetarnim i fiskalnim poticajem američkih vlasti.
Abstract (english)
The focus of this paper is to find out how the Covid-19 pandemic affected the movement of the S&P 500 index. The first part describes the concept of the stock exchange which presents an institution intended for trading in variuos goods, services and loan stocks and its development throughout history. It introduces the most famous stock exchanges in the world and how to trade. The division of the stock exchanges according to the subject and type of trading is presented and all participant in them are described. The concept of the stock exchange of the stock loan as the centre point where supply and demand meet, shares that are part of capital market and bonds (debt securities), are elaborated in detail. The second part of the paper emphasizes on market exchange index and introduces the most famous stock indexes in the world. In the final part, an analysis of the impact of Covid-19 on US stock markets as well as on the entire economy was conducted, with special reference to the movement of the S&P 500 index. The biggest surprise was not the fall of the market, but its rapid recovery achieved by the monetary and fiscal stimulus of the American authorities.
