Abstract
Zamka srednjeg dohotka je pojava dugotrajne ekonomske stagnacije država nakon naglog rasta nastao industrijalizacijom. Prelazak u kategoriju visokog dohotka je prepriječen barijerama koje mnoge države uopće ne prepoznaju, te ako isti ne počnu rješavati date probleme unutar svoje ekonomije, biti će im onemogućen daljnji gospodarski rast, te prelazak u kategoriju država visokog dohotka. Pregledom literature navodi se nekoliko determinanti koje mogu predstavljati barijeru za daljnji razvoj, no samo se jedna pokazala kao značajna. Temeljem empirijskog istraživanja došlo se do zaključka da je visoka dohodovna nejednakost ključna determinanta koja čini razliku da neka država uspije postati visokorazvijena i izađe iz zamke srednjeg dohotka. Država koja je zapela u zamci srednjeg dohotka da bi imala šanse nastaviti svoj put prema visokorazvijenoj državi treba provesti reforme kojima bi smanjila vlastitu dohodovnu nejednakost.
Abstract (english)
The middle-income trap is phenomenon of long-term economic stagnation of countries after rapid growth caused by industrialization. The transition to the category of high income countries is blocked by barriers that many countries do not recognize at all, and if they don't start solving the given problems within their economy, they will be prevented from further economic growth and transition to the category of high income countries. The literature review lists several determinants that may represent a barrier to further development, but only one has proven to be significant. Based on empirical research, it has been concluded that high income inequality is a key determinant that makes the difference for a country to manage to become highly developed and get out of the middle-income trap. A country trapped in a middle-income trap that wants have a chance to continue on its path to a highly developed state needs to implement reforms to reduce its own income inequality.
