Abstract
Tijekom prošlog stoljeća mogu se primijetiti velike promjene u svjetskoj ekonomiji gdje se vrlo važna uloga daje različitim oblicima kretanja kapitala među državama. Jedan od takvih oblika su inozemna izravna ulaganja (FDI). Priljev FDI se smatra važnim kanalom za širenje novih ideja, tehnologija i poslovnih vještina koje pridonose ostvarenju većeg životnog standarda i ekonomskog rasta povećanjem ukupne razine kapitalnih ulaganja. Zbog brojnih prednosti koje donose iznozemna ulaganja, nositelji ekonomskih politika imaju cilj privući FDI, a determinante koje utječu na privlačenje FDI nisu za svaku zemlju iste. U ovom radu se teorijski, a zatim i empirijski ispitalo koje su to determinante zemalja Europske unije koje utječu na priljev FDI, te se usporedio smjer njihovog utjecaja. Cilj teorijskog dijela rada bio je razjasniti teorijsku podlogu inozemnih izravnih ulaganja, a zatim empirijski utvrditi njihovu povezanost sa određenim varijablama. Kao najznačajnije determinante nakon provedenog istraživanja mogu se istaknuti BDP per capita, inflacija, ljudski kapital, te korupcija. Nakon provedenog istraživanja može se uočiti da nisu sve varijable imale statistički značajan utjecaj na FDI, što ne znači da na nekom drugom uzorku i vremenskom periodu one ne bi bile značajne.
Abstract (english)
During the last century, major changes can be noticed in the world economy where a very important role is given to a different forms of capital movement among the states. One such form is foreign direct investment (FDI). The FDI inflow is considered to be an important channel for spreading new ideas, technologies and business skills that contribute to achieving greater living standard and economic growth with an increase in total capital investment. Due to many advantages of foreign investments, the economic policy makers aim to attract foreign direct investment. Determinants that affect on FDI flows are not the same for each country. This paper, theoretically and empirically examined what are the determinants of EU countries that influence FDI inflows, afterward it was compared the direction of their influence. The aim of the theoretical part of the paper is to clarify the theoretical basis of foreign direct investment and then empirically determine their correlation with determined variables. The most important determinants for FDI flows are: GDP per capita, inflation, human capital, and corruption. The test results suggest that all variables are not significant, which does not mean that when choosing another sample and the time period would not be the opposite.
