The corona crisis has caused reduced productivity, company closures, reduced trade and the decline of the tourism industry, not only in Croatia but all over the world. In Europe, the pandemic primarily affected consumption and savings. In 2020., an important initiative called the European Recovery Plan - Next generation EU was devised, whose main goal is to make Europe greener, more digital and more resilient in the future. Economic analysts are set that this project will be a great and important opportunity for Croatia, with the aim of achieving assistance and inflows from various funds. Looking at 2021. compared to 2020., there was no expected increase in the number of unemployed in the Republic of Croatia. Tourism and passenger transport are most affected by the resulting pandemic. Imports as well as exports increased, and were mostly imported / exported from EU countries. The government has announced three groups of measures to make it easier for entrepreneurs to continue doing business and preserve jobs, such as: job preservation grants, Covid-19 loans and HBOR measures (working capital). In July 2021., at the Government session, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan was adopted, worth HRK 47.5 billion (EUR 6.7 billion), and a possible additional EUR 3.6 billion. euros of favorable loans, with the aim of developing and strengthening gross domestic production in Croatia. The European Commission gave a positive assessment to the NPOO, while the Voice of Entrepreneurs believes that the Plan is too oriented towards public institutions and, if a sustainable and competitive economic structure is to be built, the private sector should be helped and digitized.
