Abstract
Posljednjih desetljeća došlo je do brzog rasta svjetskog gospodarstva, a taj je rast djelomično potaknut još bržim rastom trgovine Europske Unije. Rast trgovine rezultat je tehnološkog razvoja i zajedničkih napora Unije i Svjetske trgovinske organizacije (WTO) za smanjenje trgovinskih barijera putem trgovinske politike. Ova politika je veoma značajna za svijet jer se zalaže za transparentna, jednaka i pravedna trgovinska pravila za sve. Kako bi se svi uključeni akteri pridržavali pravila o trgovini, Europska unija je osmislila instrumente i mjere kojima će provoditi svoju politiku i stvoriti uvjete za zaštitu istih od nepoštenog tržišnog natjecanja. Kako bi se upravljalo trgovinskim odnosima s trećim zemljama, osmišljeni su i trgovinski sporazumi koji stvaraju bolje tržišne prilike za manje razvijene zemlje nečlanice. Mnoge zemlje nečlanice otvorile su svoja gospodarstva kako bi u potpunosti iskoristile mogućnosti razvoja putem trgovine i njene politike. U konačnici, daljnja liberalizacija trgovine na svim zemljopisnim područjima, posebno u zemljama u razvoju, pomogla bi i najsiromašnijima u bijegu od krajnjeg siromaštva.
Abstract (english)
Recent decades have seen rapid growth of the world economy, and this growth has been driven in part by the even faster rise in European Union's trade. The growth in trade is the result of both technological developments and concerted efforts of the Union and the World Trade Organization (WTO) to reduce trade barriers through trade policy. This policy is very significant for the world because it advocates transparent, equal and fair trade rules for all. In order for all actors involved to comply withe the rules of trade, the European Union has developed instruments and measures to implement its policy and create the conditions for protecting them from unfair competition. In order to manage trade relations with third countries, trade agreements have also been developed, creating better market opportunities for less developed non-member countries. Some non-member countries have opened their own economies to take full advantage of the opportunities for economic development through trade. Finally, further trade liberalization in all geographic areas, particularly, in developing countries, would help the poorest escape from extreme poverty.
