Abstract
cilj ove doktorske disertacije je razvoj i empirijsko testiranje modela koji integrira dvije suprotstavljene škole strateškog menadžmenta, interno orijentirani koncept dinamičnih sposobnosti i eksterno orijentirani Porterov model industrijske strukture, u objašnjavanju postizanja konkurentske prednosti i natprosječnih performansi poduzeća. Teorijski dio rada istražuje i analizira literaturu o teorijama konkurentske prednosti te usporedbom stavova najznačajnijih autora nastoji razjasniti... More prirodu i karakteristike dinamičkih sposobnosti poduzeća. Na temelju zaključaka proizašlih iz analize relevantne literature, formiran je konceptualni model koji ujedinjuje pristup dinamičkih sposobnosti i Porterov pristup konkurentskih sila. Koristeći uzorak 265 tvrtki koje djeluju u različitim industrijama, u radu je oblikovan i testiran višedimenzionalni konstrukt dinamičkih sposobnosti, koji se sastoji od procesnog aspekta dinamičkih sposobnosti, adaptivne sposobnosti, apsorpcijske sposobnosti i inovacijske sposobnosti te je oblikovan model strukturnih jednadžbi, s ciljem analize odnosa dinamičkih sposobnosti, industrije, strateški signifikantnih resursa i sposobnosti, konkurentske prednosti i performansi poduzeća. Rezultati istraživanja ukazuju na opću prikladnost predloženog modela te postojanje konvergentne i diskriminacijske valjanosti i pouzdanosti mjernog modela, a potvrđivanjem svih postavljenih hipoteza dokazana je i valjanost teorije predložene modelom. Dakle, potvrđeno je da dinamičke sposobnosti stvaraju i oblikuju strateški signifikantne resurse i sposobnosti. S druge strane, strateški signifikantni resursi i sposobnosti, kao posrednička varijabla određuju održivu konkurentsku prednost poduzeća. Nadalje, dokazano je da održiva konkurentska prednost dovodi do postizanja dugoročnih natprosječnih performansi. Potvrđen je i utjecaj industrijskih sila na performanse poduzeća, dok je povezanost između dinamičkih sposobnosti i industrije djelomično potvrđena. Rezultati pokazuju da i dinamičke sposobnosti i industrijske sile utječu na performanse poduzeća, ali različitim intenzitetom. Naime, dinamičke sposobnosti imaju veći utjecaj na performanse poduzeća nego industrija. Na kraju rada, u zaključnim razmatranjima, prezentiran je doprinos disertacije, kao i ograničenja te smjernice za buduća istraživanja. Abstract (english)
The main goal of this dissertation is the development and empirical verification of the model that incorporates two opposing schools of strategic management; the internally oriented concept of dynamic capabilities, and the externally oriented, Porter's model of industrial structure, with the aim of explaining sources of sustainable competitive advantage and long-term above-average performance. The theoretical part of the dissertation explores and reviews the literature dealing with... More theories of competition and competitive advantage and engages in conceptual development based on this literature. Given the fact that there is no consensus about the definition and nature of dynamic capabilities, this part of the dissertation attempts to clarify the nature and characteristics of dynamic capabilities by comparing attitudes of main dynamic capabilities researchers. After this, the model that encompasses dynamic capabilities approach and Porter's five forces perspective in an integrated framework is developed. Using data from 265 firms that operate in a wide range of industries, the dissertation articulates and measures dynamic capabilities as a multi-dimensional construct with four underlying factors: underlying processes, adaptive capability, absorptive capability and innovative capability. Then, structural equation modeling is employed to explore the relationships between dynamic capabilities, industry, VRIN resources and capabilities, competitive advantage and firm performance. The model provided an adequate fit of the data and indicated overall construct validity. Overall research results are consistent with the hypothesized relationships. It is confirmed that dynamic capabilities create and shape the firm's resources and capabilities. In turn, these mediating variables determine a firm's competitive advantage. It is proven that sustainable competitive advantage creates sustained superior performance. The influence of industry forces on firm performance is confirmed, while the hypothesized relationship between dynamic capabilities and industry is partially confirmed. Results suggest that dynamic capabilities and industry forces both influence firm performance, but in different magnitude. Dynamic capabilities have a greater impact on a firm performance than industry forces. In the dissertation synthesis, limitations and suggestions for future research are presented.
