User centered design is an innovative concept within new product development. Its application has proven to be a mechanism for achieving an optimal level of satisfaction among primary users as well as others involved in the product development process. Reviewing the relevant literature has shown that costumer oriented approach can reduce costs, and have a positive effect not only to the efficiency of the development process but to the final product itself. While there is no unambiguous definition of the concept at this moment in time, different classifications of this approach, and standards, principles and guidelines for its application can be found. This paper shows a development process of a hybrid mobile application for the Department of Vascular Surgery at the University Hospital of Padua, Italy. For the purposes of this paper numerous interviews with representatives of future users were conducted, and the customer satisfaction with the final product was tested uopn finalizing the product. The survey was facilitated using Google tools for online surveys. The research, conducted for the purposes of work in this paper, showed a positive association between the use of customer-oriented approach to the final customer satisfaction, increased productivity of the development team and greater success in generating ideas that were successfully incorporated into the final product by the end of the development process. This paper has a purpose of raising awareness of the user-oriented approach as a tool to maximize the user experience and increase overall level of customers' and manufacturers' satisfaction. It stresses the importance of readiness to cooperate, but also pinpoints desirable traits that individuals should possess to successfully implement user-oriented approach.
