The link between transport and tourism comes from the very definition of tourism, which highlights the postulate "travel out of the place of permanent residence", meaning that it is impossible to travel without using the transport. Transport is connector between emissive and receptive market. Some means of transport, travel and travel experiences by itself belong in a tourist experience. Transport effects on tourism by overcoming the distance, i.e. allowing traveling for tourist purposes. The more the transport infrastructure develops and transport connections are more numerous, the potentials for tourism development become much greater. Tourism affects transport through more intensive construction and modernization of transport infrastructure, the capacity of means of transport, the initiation of new forms of transport organization, all due to the new increase of the number of passengers and cargo. The forms of transport which have the most important impact on tourism are certainly road forms because of its elasticity, i.e. possibility of choosing the time of departure, stopping time and similar characteristics. Then there is air traffic, especially low-car airliners which are playing important role today. Waterborne and rail transport are also important but not that much. Transport and tourism in its mutual development and effect are producing some negative consequences for man and the environment. A very important issue is their alignment and future development in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. Sustainable development implies maintaining a certain balance between the need for their own improvement and development and the preservation of natural resources and ecosystems for future generations.
