This master's thesis aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis of research addressing the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on international tourism. Using the Scopus database and data visualization tool VOSviewer, the study identifies the main research directions, key authors, institutions, countries with the highest number of published papers, the most researched study areas, journals with the highest number of published papers, and articles with the most citations. Using keywords, a total of 1,255 relevant publications were collected, which underwent a filtering process to exclude articles that did not meet the predefined inclusion criteria. The final analysis included 203 publications. The results of this bibliometric analysis reveal a new research line that recognizes the crisis caused by the pandemic as an opportunity to promote a new, more sustainable form of tourism. Additionally, the research identifies key research themes, including the impact of the pandemic on tourist decisions and the perceived risk associated with the pandemic. Furthermore, the analysis highlights the importance of rural tourism, community-based tourism, and local tourism as strategies to strengthen the resilience of the tourism industry to crises. This paper provides deeper insights into the research landscape related to the COVID-19 pandemic and international tourism, contributing to understanding the key aspects shaping the future of this industry in the face of global challenges such as pandemics.
