Abstract
Ovaj rad ima za cilj upoznati nas sa osnovnim značajkama strateškog menadžmenta u djelatnosti kulture i na primjeru Muzeja grada Splita prepoznati mogućnosti za njegovo unapređenje, a na temelju analize postojećeg stanja strateškog menadžmenta ove ustanove. Okruženje u kojem djeluju institucije iz područja kulture neprestano se mijenja. Zato je veoma važno, koliko je to moguće, spoznati što se događa u okruženju te pokušati predvidjeti na koji način događaji i promjene izvan organizacije utječu na samu organizaciju. Premda menadžeri mogu ulagati ogroman napor u oblikovanje i razvoj sustava strateškog menadžmenta, za njegovo uvođenje u poduzeće treba nekoliko godina. Razlog leži u kompleksnosti strateškog menadžmenta i njegov razvoj mora proći nekoliko faza. Uzimajući u obzir prethodno spomenute okolnosti, a posebno ovu posljednju pretpostavku, pristupljeno je analizi strateškog menadžmenta Muzeja grada Splita, kao i mogućim mjerama za njegovo poboljšanje. Muzej je prošao faze temeljnog financijskog planiranja i planiranja zasnovanog na predviđanju, i u fazi je eksterno orijentiranog planiranja tj. strateškog planiranja. Muzeju tek predstoji faza strateškog menadžmenta.

The goal of this thesis is to connect us with the fundamental parts of strategic management in the field of culture and on the example of the City Museum recognize the possibilities for it’s growth, based on the analysis of the current state in this institution. The surroundings in which the institutions act are constantly changing. Which is why it’s very important, as much as possible, to acknowledge what is happening in the environment and try to predict the way how events and changes from the surroundings affect the organization itself. Although managers can spend tremendous amounts of time in shaping and developing the system, it’s introduction to the host institution will take a couple of years. The reason lies in the complexity of the strategic management and his development has to go through few key phases. Taking to account the before mentioned circumstances, and especially the last one, we have analyzed the strategic management of the City Museum, and also the possible measures for his improvement. The museum has gone through the phases of basic financial planning and foresight planning, and is currently in the phase of externally oriented planning, also known as strategic planning. The strategic management phase has yet to come.
