This paper tries to give a little insight into environmental protection and why it is so important, especially in the sphere of tourism. Tourism depends on natural resources and at the same time destroys them. To stop this, many regulations and laws that try to help protect the environment have been adopted. Ecologically responsible behaviour is expected from today's tourists. In order to help them, tourist products and services providers must also have the same role. Various certifications have been developed that are awarded to eco-friendly hotels and implement a sustainable development policy. In this way, these hotels stand out from the crowd and give them a special significance. Research has shown that tourists will select eco-hotels with certain certifications rather than regular non-environmental hotels. What does not go into favour with hotel owners is the fact that most of them are never willing to pay more to stay in an eco-hotel. The reason for the higher cost of accommodation in eco hotels is a great initial investment in eco-development. There is a country that needs to assist hotels, and especially small family and middle hotels. In the future, eco hotels have the opportunity to be very competitive in the market if they are properly managed and if their development is appropriately directed.
