Social responsibility, a relatively new term in business largely shaped in the 1960s, implies an obligation on management to make choices and take actions that will contribute to the well-being and interests of society and businesses. In other words, social responsibility means distinguishing the right from the wrong and doing the right. The development of the concept of socially responsible business started at the end of the 20th century, and differs in many types, models and dimensions of the concept. Corporate Social Responsibility is a relatively new concept on the Croatian market, but in recent years, there have been changes and an increasing number of companies are realizing the role of the concept in business and at the same time developing the Index to evaluate the responsibility of the practices of Croatian companies. Achieving competitive advantage is one of the fundamental elements of an enterprise's business, and it has a competitive advantage when it is capable of producing greater economic value than its largest competitor in the product market. In doing so, economic value refers to the difference between the perceived benefits of customers and the economic cost of the enterprise. Proper use of the concept of corporate social responsibility can help a company build competitive advantage and thereby gain market advantage. In order to realize the goals of the diploma research and to test the hypotheses regarding the relationship between corporate social responsibility and competitive advantage, one of the five largest banks in the Croatian market was selected. The Bank's employees participated in a questionnaire consisting of 6 different sections, ie 16 closed-ended questions.
